Working In Cold Weather

Each season brings with it its own challenges, so with Winter just around the corner we give you some of our top tips for winter working.
Check the weather forecast in advance.
Whilst it may be tempting to make assumptions about what working conditions the winter will bring, it’s always advisable to check the weather forecast in advance. This will help you prepare your site, stock up with the right products, and kit out your workers in a safe and effective way.
Be aware of temperature requirements of construction products.
When using products like adhesives, sealants, plasters and renders ensure you check what temperature they are best applied at. Most cementitious products supplied by Licata can be worked in temperatures ranging from 5°C to 35°C.
Keep substrates dry and protected.
Wet substrates can cause problems with adhesion and bonding. And remember, just because the surface of a substrate is dry it may still have absorbed water from rainfall. This can cause hydration issues, and can result in unwanted blemishes like lime bloom, or possibly risk locking moisture into vulnerable interiors.
